The Maharashtra government on Wednesday declared a "drought-like" situation in the state.
The state cabinet took the decision at a meeting in view of below-average rainfall in many regions.
This, the cabinet said, has resulted in only 29 percent of sowing possible so far.

Reports are already coming that most banks, even goverment owned, are not granting new loans to farmers.. we can expect record number of farmer suicides next year.. ironical how farmers are getting more and more poor as food prices keep getting more and more high..
