Education Minister Vasant Purke on Tuesday announced in the state legislative council that sex education would be introduced in all schools and junior colleges across the state in the coming academic year. The proposal had been withdrawn last year following protests by a section of the population.
The subject will be introduced in the syllabus of class IX and XI. The books are educative and won't be too graphic. Teachers will be given appropriate training before they begin imparting the knowledge to students.
