10.86 Lakhs ??!!?? together ??!!?? across entire maharashtra ???
In just my suburb of Mumbai you will find much more than 10.86 lakh people...
OK lets take the facts...
Fact 1 - Mumbai has official population of about 190 lakhs.
Fact 2 - Maharashtra has official population of about 9.69 crores (2001 census). Lets round it off to 10 crores for 2008
Observation - As per maharashtra goverment 10.86 lakh people are employed in micro, small and medium industries across maharashtra
Conclusion 1 - Only 1 % of people in Maharashtra work! Rest 99% are in school or jobless or retired.. or dead
Conclusion 2 - Assume nobody outside maharashtra works and all the 10.86 lakh workers are employed in Mumbai. That means only 10% of people in Mumbai work. Rest 90% are....

if you call this analysis, then 2nd grade school kid would be proud of you. But nothing else.
sandeep, has no logic reasoning. Statistics are about employment of locals in SME industries as per records. These are not stats about employment or unemployment or correlation to Mumbai's population.
The debate here is how much of jobs in SME (small to Medium Enterprises) are taken by outsiders and by locals, since MNS wants reservation for locals in SME saying that outsiders are taking those jobs. And stats show that as high as 80-90% of jobs are with locals. That is the stats. Stats are not about how many people reside in your locality.
And about where rest of Maharashtra works, then they work in Govt jobs, software, shops, self employed, sundry work and mostly in agriculture. Now you understand how things stack up????
So the conclusion you have drawn above are like 2nd grade school kid working out following question;
"Mumbai's population is 1.9 crore, 1 lakh people in Mumbai are workign in software, so what are rest doing?"
And Kid reaches a conclusion saying " rest are not working. .... and since that cant be true logically so , the figure of only 1 lakh ppl working on software is false."
I hope you can understand the fallacy of your own logic. Kids assumption above is that people can either work in software or dont work, like you are assuming that if only 10lkah people worl in SME then rest must be not working as if SME is only place where people work.
BTW, mark Twain said many things, one of which is "A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes". .. so truth in this is facts and lies are that locals are being suppressed by wily outsiders.
