There has to be respect for "Marathi Language' in all communities working and doing business in Maharashtra. Whatever Raj is doing under the law is good and needs and has our full support. The same is being practiced in all states of India except Delhi which is rather a union capital and territory and hence Punbaji's who dominate the business there also put name plates in Hindi. Look at South india and you will find how Linguistic they are. Hence this is a good and welcome initiative.

actually we don't go to shops looking at the board or the name of the shop. We genrally enter looking at the things we want to buy.
I would like to know the problem with shop owners (i do agree with them that it shouldn't be force to them). But do they have any reason not to put up the marathi boards. One of the reason could be why they should put money, well thats genuine and mns should actually sponsor these boards. Will shop owners be ready to put up marathi boards if mns sponsors them ? .. well don't know .. why ?

"Will shop owners be ready to put up marathi boards if mns sponsors them ?" hmmm intresting thought... i was thinking of another variation.. offering some sops (like reduced taxes/license fees) to shops/establishments which display marathi boards prominently... no businessman in his right mind would ignore a chance to save money... Simple solution. No need of force. Marathi people should not buy anything from shops which don't have Marathi signboards. So the ones who care about marathi customers would put them up, others won't.
Why not do this?

I don't see why one should do that. if MNS breaks nameplates, they should compensate the shopkeepers for the damage and then ask nicely!
The right thing to do if someone uses force and breaks nameplates etc is to pick up the pieces and shove it up their ass.
And I dont mean just MNS. If you succumb to force or threat of force by anyone, whats the point of living?
It is one thing to demand, protest, agitate - thats called civil rights.
When you take the next step and damage things, thats called arson. It is a crime then.

This solution of MNS to pay for the Marathi sign board is great.. Will they do it???
Today in Nashik they have destroyed 3 buses, Dont know why?? Was the MSRTC busses written in english??
I dont think so
It is pure politics...MNS has nothing to rant about.. Last time he tried to woo the bhaiyas by announcing that Mumbai belongs to all mumbaikars.. and he lost
So this is a new idea to gain the suppport of we maharashtrians...
He is trying to take away Balasahebs role .. forget it , just by copying balasaheb, he can never become one....
You can have only one balasaheb (only 1 lion can be a king in one jungle)
After this issue he has nothing left...

Interesting observations Kumar but i think we live in a democratic jungle where any lion (or tiger) has to contest elections & get the majority of votes to become king :-)
Good one Sandesh :-) the reverse continumn of time and events thereof eh? ;-)

what are the MNS people trying to prove by burning the buses.Whose property have they destroyed in nashik,Do these people realise it? we complain about no infrastructure and then people go about burning the buses.Manishbhau said about saam, daam, dand bhed. This case the dand is paid by the people of maharashtra only.
Having signboards in the state language is a valid issue.BMC has a rule on this but has never taken the implementation seriously. Also This is not a first time when a demand of this sort has been made.A similar agitation was taken up in bangalore some 3/4 years ago.
With the support raj thackeray is getting, he should provide the maharashtrian youth a platform to create thier own shops and companies.
Was balasaheb just the raj thackeray of that time.I guess yes.The formation of the shiv sena was on the similar principles but got diluted with time and power.

The law is there, and laws are to be implemented. One can debate the merits of the law, thats another issue, but laws should be implemented.
Now wait for a second and think. Is the most important law for Maharashtra right now something about signboards?
There are laws about corruption. Crime. Poverty. Industrialisation. Education.
For MNS, the most important law is about signboards.
Every party has corrupt people. We should not forget Ramesh Kini (he was a Maharathrian too, btw).
But trying to implement the really useful laws, that takes serious work.
Much easier to throw stones and break signbaords.

Yes i totally agree with asthi... but still i would like to make one point here.
As any wise man would say (take asthi in this case) every party is corrupt (it doesn't take a wise man though). It is true.
But our CM says that if a MNS workers takes law in their hands for signboard issue they will be treated as per law .. which is very logical. The signboard's is a direction from civic body and not adhearing to that is also breaking law .. Nobody is talking about that .. not even CM .. WHY ??

True, the law is there, and all laws should be implemented. I am just asking if this is the most important law around. If it is, then this is the law which should be implemented first! And violence and threats, no way!
If MSN is so keen on doing something good, they should say, we will have a one week bandh in Maharashtra if every village school is not developed, teachers appointed, and infrastructure developed.
But that is work...

I seem to recollect that a year or two ago some court in Mumbai had given a judgement fining the shiv sena for holding a mumbai bandh. I dont remember the reason for the bandh.. probably something to do with bomb blasts
Anyway in India there seems to be less of law of the land, rather its different lands, different laws..

Different lands, different laws and i would add different judgements.
One group of people hold a days bandh in a city and the courts say it is holding the economy hostage and declare it illegal. At a different location another group of people hold a bandh for a week and get 4-6% reservations approved for their caste. At a third location there is a bandh demanding independence from the country and there is no judgement at all.
