The Maharashtra Government on Friday declared Bakri Id as a public holiday on December 21.
Security measures are also in place for the occassion, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said.
In a meeting held at Mantralaya, Vilasrao said that food and water should be provided to animals brought in Mumbai for Bakri Id.
The CM also said that teams will be working at the taluka level to give medical certificates to animals before they are brought in the city.
Director General of Police, P S Pasricha has said that security has been befeed up and efforts to maintain law and order in the state are being taken.
