Good thing that it has finally opened up. but as far as my knowledge goes the foundation of this bridge was done at the time of Sena-BJP government and it was named "Swatanrtraveer Sawarakar Sagaree Setu" now where come late Rajiv Gandhi came into this scene? These bloody congresswala will never stop licking feet of gandhi family.

prashu ...let me tell u one thing that... even though the sea link is named after late Rajiv Gandhi but people will call it as Bandra Worli sea link only .......FOR EXAMPLE : SANJAY GANDHI NATIONAL PARK IS CALLED AS NATIONAL PARK ONLY ......no one call it as SANJAY GANDHI NATIONAL PARK .....but what ever u said is also right.
Sharad pawar has suggested this name to sonia gandhi and CM ashok chavan. It is not at all a intelligent guess that Pawar tried to earn a cookie here.
It really doesn't matter whose name the sea link will be named after. But it really feels humiliating when we see politicians like pawar coin with common man sentiments with explicit political motives.
Bandra worli sea link is a landmark for the mumbai city in terms of the stats mentioned in the post.The question to be asked is,Would the magnificent sea link translate in lessening the travel time to the business end of the city.Is the planning and the design at the entry and exits capable of handling the high traffic scenarios.Only time will tell. Today it was reported that there was a jam during the morning and it took an hour to reach worli.Again that can be due to the fact that it was open for all.The other question is,Is it meant for the Aam Aadmi. if it means a 100 rs for a to and fro travel,thats a lot.
As far as the naming row goes,it always begins when the project is completed. Politicians always use the naming of completed projects to appease thier party chiefs.Irrespective of the parties,Havent wee seen that before. Sometimes i feel it is good not to name the sea link after the fiery freedom fighter.As helo said it would make no difference to refer it in a day to day use. We have examples in CST , LT/MG/SV roads. Why short form one more illustrious person for the tremendous work he has done. (No offence meant to Rajeev Gandhi)
