State Assembly saved the Open Spaces in mumbai from deadly CareTaker policy. Open spaces will continue to be monitored by adoption policy. This is very unlike BMC where they have been put down without much resistance and tricks. Does this mean the original problem of Land Encroachment will continue.
Earlier, BMC’s improvement committee had decided to give the city’s open spaces - which are reserved for playgrounds and recreation grounds - to private parties who would act as care-takers. The care-takers were also given permission to build on 25 per cent of the plot. The policy before this allowed parties to adopt open spaces, but no construction was allowed.

Yes. It is now saved for the exclusive use by encroachers, slums, bangladeshis, druggists...
The Juniors (corporators & slumlords) opposed the move strongly as the proposed policy was beneficial to only the Seniors (ministers & builders).
:-)
Well I think it's fine, building jumbo planes.
Or taking a ride on a cosmic train.
Switch on summer from a slot machine.
Get what you want to if you want, 'cause you can get anything.
I know we've come a long way,
We're changing day to day,
But tell me, where do the children play?
Well you roll on roads over fresh green grass.
For your lorry loads pumping petrol gas.
And you make them long, and you make them tough.
But they just go on and on, and it seems that you can't get off.
Oh, I know we've come a long way,
We're changing day to day,
But tell me, where do the children play?
Well you've cracked the sky, scrapers fill the air.
But will you keep on building higher
'til there's no more room up there?
Will you make us laugh? Will you make us cry?
Will you tell us when to live? Will you tell us when to die?
I know we've come a long way,
We're changing day to day,
But tell me, where do the children play?
