When ‘encounter specialist’ Daya Nayak was booked for wealth disproportionate to his income in 2003, the complaint against him was that he had amassed assets worth hundreds of crores by illegal means. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), which investigated the allegations, has concluded that the suspended sub-inspector owns apartments at Andheri, Bandra and Kandivli, a restaurant-cum-bar at Malad and two vehicles, all of which are worth just Rs 89.17 lakh.
