Mumbai Metro One, which is the first Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative for a MRTS project in India, is working in close coordination with the Tree Authority to arrive at a final decision on the number of trees that might hamper the construction work of the Mumbai Metro project.
As part of the intensive survey carried out by Mumbai Metro One along the Versova - Andheri - Ghatkopar corridor, the company identified trees that might hamper the construction of the project. A detailed report highlighting the number of trees along with location drawings has already been submitted to the Tree Authority.

Good initiative.
The company is saying they are committed to maintenance of the saplings for 3 years. It should have been a little more than 3 years and also the number of replacement saplings could have been about 4 to every one tree felled.
But still it is a very commendable initiative when other companies might not be so environmentally conscious.

A nice example is set here. I am sure authorities like MMRDA would have faced these kind of issues before.Have there been any initiatives from them? would be interesting to find out.
