Roadside barbers are most commonly known as Naayis. It is a little known fact, but they are jokingly called ‘Italian barbers’ by their customers. “We work on the pavement, which is made of itth (brick) and hence the name,” laughs Muktar Ahmed, a barber from Kemps Corner.
