After black and yellow taxis, autorickshaws in the suburbs and fleet taxis are set to get a new colour code each. The government will seek suggestions from the public before deciding on the colours.
For black and yellow taxis, the transport department has already asked art students to select new colours and sought public suggestions.
“The decision is likely by the end of the month. In first week of March, the government will meet taxi manufacturers. We don’t want taxi owners to bear the cost of repainting and will ask the manufacturers to paint the taxis as per requirements,” said Transport Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil.
