Guys lets just ignore the dog fights on katta which has started recently as it is spoiling the entire mood of katta.
Lets keep the blame game and political fights aside for some time.After this horrifying attack what steps do you think should be taken immediately to combat terrorism.
One thing which entirely shocked me in this whole story was few men enter MUMBAI with so many sophisticated weapons,So much RDX and other explosives,bombs and we had absolutely no clue and were staying here for 5-6 months or so. Scary!

1) Due to think it was an Intelligence failure? Usually these Intellient agencies are blamed for giving vague informations hence many times there warnings are ignored that what I heard in some discussion over TV on one news channel.
2)One important thing which we noticec was Mumbai Police was completely handicapped as far as equipments was concerned.Only 2 terriosts on CST station and they managed to completely paralysed the entire police force.Whatever fight police gave was purely on their guts.Even ATS officers like Hemant karkare or Salaskar or Kamte was n't provided with Bullet proof car atleast when they are on Field.Don't they knw how much imp these people are for Mumbai security force.
3)Ever Metropolitan city should have a its own team of Well equipped Commandos or security guards who can take control of such situations.
4)Most importantly I felt here was there should be some strong laws made in case of Renting house to somebody.I m not sure if it already exits.I mean some checks like passport,ration cards or pan card I dont knw wht else and it should be recorded with Govt.Do they check all these details when we tke a house on rent presently?
I dont knw if I m making sense. What do you guys think?

1. Intelligence failure to some degree for sure.
The problem is, even though there was some intelligence, no one acted on it. It got stuck in red tape and bureaucracy. That's why navy says, no not our fault, Coast Guard says so, police says so. Our system of acting on intelligence is totally messed up.
2. Mumbai police
Yes, bad equipment, old equipment. But even here we face a big problem. While in theory we can give AK-47s to a lot of policemen - remember that our policemen are not saints. They are the same policemen who are often corrupt. Imagine if Sunil More had a machine gun!
Also training. Just the guns wont help, if you don't know how to use them. The terrorists just had to shoot in any direction, our police have to shoot and hit the terrorist! Massive amount of training is needed. And guns should be given to the best cops.
I also think it is very important to double or triple the number of police (lots of job opportunities there) and increase their salaries to a respectable level. Then fewer policemen will become corrupt. It will also reduce their work hours, making them healthier and there will be spare time for training also.
3. Own commando team
True. Definitely needed, as we have learnt now :(
4. Rent laws are already there I think. Maybe implementation should become stricter, but its not a big issue right now maybe...
If one more personal debate betwen chanakya and prashu .. Iam banning both chanakya and prashu ..

I agree to some extent with Asthipanjar above.
1.)Intelligence failure: Huge huge. It was bound to happen. If we have 100 agencies but none of them talk to each other then they will fail. Even Pannu Panwala knows that.
2. Mumbai police
We need 3 different types in police, Investigative , law and order and Terrorism (ATS). Not every policemen need AK047 and not it is desired. DONT FORGET, police in india mostly is corrupt and misuse thier power. If they are armed to teeth they will turn against public. We need police reforms where police should be de-politicised. That is most important. Mumbai police is also one of most corrupt. It has monthly hafta (extortion) running into crores of rupee and it is as much a secret as our intelligence failures. Officers like Karkare are few and rare.
3. Own Commando team:
Yeah, correct. Have a rapid action unit. Trained in urban warfare and hostage situation. Only probelm is misuse by politicians. Imagine having Such a crack team with Modi, he would brand any muslim as terrorist and dispacth his crack team. Our civil society need to be more alert to prevent misuse like that.
4. Rent laws:
India has all the laws in world. Problem is enforcing YOu see we are one of world's most corrupt country where bribes are expected behavior and so is nepotism. I would say all of us are corrupt to various degrees. From those who cross roads anywhere , to those who jump red light to those who pee on streets to those peons in office who ask you for 10 ruppees to babus who ask you 1000 ruppes to netas who ask 100000 ruppes. We are corrupt and dont follow rules and bend them. Unless we root out the corruption, system would keep mal-functioning.
Dont u think ashti Its become an issue now as Tommo I may actually end up renting house to some decent looking guys who are doing some intership etc and then you find out they were actually Terrorist. I mean scary isn't it. I mean we need to knw whom are we renting our property and its not misused.
But this guys can manage anything.If terrorist can do intership in taj then they can do anything its difficult to track them.
Tracking these guys is difficult.They can be anywhere at anylevel.
yesterday I was watching a very interesting documentary on Discovery on this guy Ali Mohammed who had worked as CIA and with US Security forces and at the same time he was operating For Al-Qaeda and is considered Bin Laden's First Trainer.He used U.S. military information to train al-Qaeda and other Muslim militants, and write al-Qaeda's multivolume terrorist training guide.

But what I Heard was FBI had used this guy for their interest and thought they would control him but they were wrong.
Why only renting a house!! After 9/11 most Amercians developed fear of flying and wouldn't trust the co-pessenger.
Bin -Laden and Al Qida are so dangerous for one single but most important reason:
"They have undermined and hit out at very foundation on which a civilised society works and run- TRUST"
If we can not trust each other, we are doomed and will always live under fear. That is what Bin Laden wants to achieve and that is why he is most dangerous person in world. Not for BOMBS but for undermining TRUST in society.

At least in mumbai people help each other when disasters occur, There may be internal conflicts and anguish between people, but what we see everytime is people forget all these things and just help each other. Some days ago when a blast happened in delhi near a Big Dustbin box, somebody took the snap and the view was disgusting. Two men were lying helplessly at the site, one of them was heavily injured and was collapsed while other had severe injuries in Leg and waiting for help. Nobody came forward to help him. At least in Mumbai we don't see these kind of views.

हल्ला झाल्यानंतरची सी. एस.टी. स्थानकाची काही छायाचित्रं मी पाहीली. तसेच, या स्थानकात पुन्हा गोळीबार झाल्यानंतर जी धावपळ उडाली होती, तीही मी पाहीली. मी मीडियाच्या लोकांना पाहीलं आणि अतिरेक्यांची वर्तमानपत्रामधून वा टी.व्ही. वर प्रसारीत झालेली छायाचित्रही पाहीली. मला एक गोष्ट प्रकर्षाने जाणवली ती ही की हल्ला झाल्यानंतर लोक हातात असेल, नसेल ते सामान टाकून सैरावैरा पळ्त सुटतात, तेही साहजिकच आहे पण हाच हल्ला जर अफवा आहे हे कळलं, तर पुन्हा आपलं टाकून दिलेलं सामान घ्यायला धावतात. म्हणून आणीबाणीच्या परिस्थितीत, पळून जाउन, आपला जीव वाचवणं, एवढा एकच मार्ग शिल्लक राहिलेला असताना, हातचे सामान टाकून पळून जाण्यापेक्षा, स्वत:चा जीव आणि महत्त्वाच्या वस्तूही वाचवता येतील का, यावर मी विचार करत आहे.
ओव्हरनाईटर या प्रकारात मोडणारी ही बॅग, आपल्या सर्वांनाच परिचित आहे. शालेय आणि महाविद्यालयीन विद्यार्थ्यांइतकीच, मिडीयाचे लोकही ही बॅग वापरणे पसंत करतात. अतिरेक्यांच्या छायाचित्रातही अशी बॅग तुम्हाला स्पष्टपणे दिसेल. सर्वसाधारण कामाला जाणारे लोक ही बॅग वापरु लागले आहेत. वापरायला सुटसुटीत अशी ही बॅग आता सर्वांनीच वापरायला सुरूवात करावी असे मला वाटते. पुढे किंवा पाठीवर अडकवता येणारी ही बॅग वजनही छान कॅरी करते. रोज कामाला जाणारे लोक सर्वसाधारणपणे 5 किलोपेक्षा जास्त वजन नेत नसावेत, काही निवडक व्यवसाय याला अपवाद ठरू शकतात. नोकरदार स्त्रीवर्गाच्या एका खांद्यावर लटकवण्याच्या पर्सच्या तुलनेत तर अशी बॅग कितीतरी उपयुक्त ठरेल. पळताना हात मोकळे राहिल्यामुळे वेग वाढवता येतो व हल्लेखोराकडे तुमची पाठ असेल तर आत असलेल्या सामानामुळे कदाचित तुमचा जीवही वाचण्याची शक्यता असते. अर्थात आधीच सांगितल्यप्रमाणे ही एक शक्यता आहे. मी तज्ज्ञ नाही.
बसमध्ये बसल्यावर आपण बसलेल्या सीटच्या खाली, तर प्रत्येक जण वाकून पाहात असेलच पण बस सुरू झाल्यावर आणि स्टॉप येईपर्यंत वर्तमानपत्र व बसमधील टी.व्ही पाहताना आपल्या बाजूच्या, मागच्या व पुढच्या सीटवरील व्यक्ती काही सामान विसरून तर गेली नाही ना, हे नक्की पाहा. ट्रेनमध्येही अशी सावधगिरी बाळगता येऊ शकते. गर्दीमुळे जर फळीवरील सामान कोणाचे आहे, हे कळत नसेल, तर तसे नि:संकोचपणे विचारा. ज्याचे सामान आहे, त्यालाही राग येण्याचे कारण नाही; शेवटी हा प्रश्न सर्वांच्याच सुरक्षिततेचा आहे. स्वत:च्या गाडीने प्रवास करत असाल, तर गाडी रोज नीट चेक करा. चारचाकी वाहनांची खालची बाजू आरशातून पाहून चेक करता येऊ शकते. मला वाटतं, आपण सर्वांनीच अशी खबरदारी घ्यायला सुरूवात केली आहे.
पोलिसांच्या बॉम्ब स्क्वॉड मध्ये बॉम्बचा तपास करण्यासाठी काही प्रशिक्षित कुत्रेही असतात. आपल्या घरात पाळलेल्या श्वानाचा अशा प्रकारचे प्रशिक्षण देऊन उपहोग करून घेता येईल का, याचा विचार केला पाहिजे. जेणेकरून रस्त्यात पडलेल्या अनोळखी वस्तूकडे आपले दुर्लक्ष झाल्यास निदान तो मुका प्राणी त्या वस्तूचे महत्त्व ओळखून आपल्याला सावध करेल. मला याची माहिती मिळवण्यासाठी पोलिस दलातील व्यक्तींना भेटायचे आहे. पोलिस दलातील कोणीही व्यक्ती हा लेख वाचत असल्यास कॄपया या गोष्टीचा विचार करून, योग्य ती माहिती सर्वांना मिळेल अशा माध्यमातून द्यावी.
तुम्हीही विचार करा. आपल्याकडे निरनिराळ्या कलेत, व्यवसायात 'बाय चॉईस' पारंगत असलेली लोकं आहेत, यांना आपल्या वैशिष्ट्यांचा खबरदारीसाठी अधिकॄतरित्या कसा वापर करता येईल याचा विचार करा. सकाळीच एका ब्लॉगवर वाचलं, एक पाकिस्तानी वेबसाईट, भारतीय संगणक तज्ज्ञांनी हॅक केली. विचार करा.
हे खबरदारीचं औषध आपल्याला निराळा फॉर्मुला वापरुन बनवायचे आहे. माहिती प्रसिद्ध करणं जर रास्त नसेल, तर त्या क्षेत्रातील जाणकार व्यक्तींना भेटुन चर्चा करा पण हे औषध आपल्या देशासाठी बनवा.

1.About int.failure, we all heard and watched that there was some intelligence given to Indian Navy and Maharashtra govt.But they ignored it! They said that there was no SPECIFIC intelligence.What were they expecting for God's sake? Day Date Time Names of people involved Permanant adresses?
If there was even a hint that this could happen then the Naval intelligence people and the coast guard should have been on their toes.
Mumbai Fishermen's Association had sent a letter to Mah.govt. informing the authorities about suspicius movement along the Mumbai coast.Again this was ignored.
An LeT man was areested in UP who had said that this type of attack was being planned. Nothing was done again and to top that, He was released from custody.
So there was intelligence failure thats for sure. More importanatly whatever information was given it was IGNORED!!

Really good measures to follow up and surely some of them we are actually following like checking under seats & carriage while travelling in train.
But these measures only help when situations like time bombs have been planeted. By following above measures we can surely avoid bomb-blast like situations. But last attack was a complete different and need more alertness from citizens of this country.
Before this Flat-Culture came into Mumbai there was a Chawl-culture existed. Still u will find it in some parts of Mumbai where people knowing who stays next door and having full details of each other. But sadly, in new flat system and privacy culture, people living in flats hardly know each other. Citizen groups to be formed and should keep a close watch on new people comming for stay in u r locality untill they found unsuspicias.
I know this can be an intrusion in one's privacy but then National security is above all.....

I agree. In fact I would like to see every citizen of Indian handling even toothpick as a weapon but practically it is not possible. All the citizens are not going to get license to carry weapon everyday and Security authorities at many place like shopping malls may consider us as anti-social element if we carry unlicensed weapon. So we should think about routine thing we carry like pen, torch how can we use as defense..you know..can't explain more than this. What I have learned from this attack is the terrorist attacks and we run and he attacks becoz he is sure that we will not attack in reply or common man does not carry anything to respond the attack, let's not give this aasurity to these creatures. Also, as you say about flat-culture, the flat-owner is not interested in doing verification of the documents of his tenants.
Very much true, Common people just gets panick when such incidence takes place. Forget about terrorist attack if u remember many yrs back many women jumped from local train due to bomb scare and got killed from passing by train on a very rainy and stormy evening on wesrtern railway. Some sort of Disaster mamanegment training should be arrange by housing socities to train everybody, how to deal with any situations. This will help not only at terrorist strike but in all situations.
Again, everybody is so obbsed with money that i doubt people really checking any documents before giving their flat on rent. Alertness on our side should be there on all time.
