Taking up Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Raj Thackeray’s challenge to Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on performing Chhat puja in Mumbai, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on Monday said that he will attend the puja along with the RJD leader.
RJD jumps in to seek permission
Following the CM’s support, an RJD official submitted an application to the Police Commissioner’s office to gain permission to perform the puja. The RJD wants to perform the puja at the Shivaji Park’s ground on November 3 and 4.
Uma Bharati to also perform Chhath Puja
Meanwhile, Bhartiya Jan Shakti party leader Uma Bharati announced on Monday that she also plans to organise a Chhat puja in Mumbai, albeit a different location.
