This news may come as welcome relief for thousands of theatre lovers. A record number of Marathi dramas, around 14 to be specific, are to be staged for theatre fans since August. While two major productions will soon hit the stage and a couple of them are in the process of being launched.
These plays, most of which were launched during the Ganeshotsav season, has not only brought several stars from the television and films back to the theatre, but has also been a catalyst in reviving the erstwhile sluggish box-office collections at the Vishnudas Bhave auditorium and other theatres in the city.

It is of no use. What about quality of Marathi Drama. The omedy mostly of low test. If Marathi Drama is based on problem . The bogus problem has fabricated answer. Even today's Marathi Drama do not depict the real picture of our Society. The reession is going on, thousnands of formers has committed sucide. The lakhs of unemployed youths are wandeing in streets. Due to mass exodus of Bihari, North indian and other states of India, the very existance of Maharashtra and Marathi civilisation is under threat. Theres is manacing problem of Naxalvadi and other disruptive elements in Maharashtra. The politics is totally dominated by Casteist, criminal minded petty politicians who dont have any economic, social or political phylosophy except self aggrandisemnt. They don't bother of crores of people amd helpless marathi janata in general.The political guns raped the household woman in her house and set her ablaze it is glaring example of Maharashtra's Law & Order situation. The grim situation that British Raj at least people had courage of participating various movements. But to-day common man do not dare to participate in procession against souring prices. It is regret to note that Marathi Drama is unable to see these problems.
Except few exceptions the majority Marathi Actor act monotonusly. There acting is the same though the movie is diffrent. They treat the Marathi Drama as serial on small screen. It is the main reason why they can act in three different dramas in a day. Since they are acting in same manner. It isimpossible that the Marathi dramawalla's are aware of Russo/Voltaire. At lease they have to concentrate on the plight of our society then only the Marathi Drama will asher in new global era.
