Vidharba deserve a separate state, now for better development.
The issue of a separate state of Vidarbha is pending since 1918, when the All India Congress Committee cleared it through a resolution.
Vidarbha holds:
1. Two-thirds (33%) of Maharashtra’s mineral resources
2. Three fourth (75%) of the forest resources.
and is surplus in power, unlike rest of Maharahstra
Throughout its history Vidarbha has remained much calm during the communal troubles than rest of India but it is plagued very much by poverty and malnutrition. It is less economically prosperous compared to the rest of Maharashtra,
why!
India needs smaller states for efficient administration. Maharshtra has totally neglected Vidharba. Nobody seems to care that Vidharba farmers are committing suicides by hordes. Isnt it dominance of rich western Maharashtra politicians who have neglected Vidharba for so long!
Just the way Jharkhand was separated fro Bihar, separate state of Vidharba needs to be formed.
Alas, it has just become a political ground for Maharshtra leaders.
Maharashtrain bias against Vidharbha
There is an institutionalized bias against Vidharba in Maharashtra in favor of western region.
PM's panel to probe farmers suicide in Vidharba had stated that "There is laxity in implementing projects for Vidarbha, and money given by center to famish farmers is diverted to fund irrigation projects in west Maharashtra"
While irrigation is at the root of cotton farmers' distress in Vidharba, state has paid no heed to the SoS call. The irrigation backlog for Vidarbha has increased from 38.05% in 1982 to 62.20% in 2002 while for rest of state, it has come down from 39% in 1982 to 4.73% in 2002.
Why no Maharashtra politician has taken up cause of Vidharba??

Vidharba, the outsider within??
Vidharba is always treated as an orphan. Where are the political parties and leaders who claim to represent marathi manoos;when hordes of farmers are dying in Vidharba. Come and see , how poor and under-developed Vidharba is.
Where does all the money and grant goes?
Is this not a bias by rich western Maharashtra towards Vidharba??
Why nobody in his state bothered about Vidharba??
Is Vidharba not in Maharshtra? Or is it just used to make western Maharashtra richer by syphoning minerals and other resources from Vidharba??
The issue of Vidarbha is similar to that of Konkan, but konkan doesn't ask for separate state.These two parts of Maharashtra are often neglected.
I'm not praising Narayan Rane here, but he is the person who cared about Konkan's developement up to some extent. Now you should think why Vidarbha don't have such leader. The Sad thing is that Vidarbha leaders always think ONLY about their own developement.
So, instead of asking for separate state, elect right people. Let them know that you want development. The picture is clear, Jharkhand and Chattisgadh are not progressing even after separation. Every CM there is corrupt and they are so greedy they didn't even suspect sting operations.
meemarathi, Vidharba is not just Maharashtra but parts in MP and Andhara also. Demand for Separate Vidharba is pending for a long time.
Dont tell me how good Narayan Rane is, he is a dal-badlu. From Shiva Sena , he came to congress to became a chief minister. And don't preach about electing right leaders. Westersn Mahasrhtrian leaders have leached Vidharba for so many decades. Look at how irrigation funds are diverted to Sugar belt. Why do we need separate Knonkan leaders, separate Maratahwada leaders, spearate Mumbai leaders, and separate Vidharba leaders???
Truth is that Vidharba can not progress untill it is administrated separately. Maharashtra is only western Maharashtra and Mumbai.

If you are from Vidharba, then you will know that what has happened to Nagpur. Nagpur's economic importance has gradually declined relative to Mumbai and Pune after the merging of Vidarbha into the Maharashtra because of a prolonged period of neglect by the state government.
A Separate Vidharba state, will in long run, be good. Nagour can become more developed city. Marathi is good, but we beed development first.
Bangaldesh bhi Bangali bolta hai....but it is not part of West bengal. There are other things apart form just a language.

It is good to speak all that sititng in Mumbai and Pune about marathis, culture etc. Forget parprantiya and marathi unity. have u went to Gadchiroli ? wt you know about it?
Me, tell you few things about it:
Gadchiroli District is located on the North-Eastern side of the State of Maharashtra. It is listed as a tribal district because:
37% of people are triabls, and 15% ST tribals.
The Major community of tribals those reside in the district are Gond, Madia, Pardhan and Kolam. They have their own languages as "Gondi, Madiya".
The tribals in the district have their own culture. They are used to perform worships of their God "Persa Pen" and others. They do dance "Rela" on auspicious occasions and when new crops come. Rela dance is popular dance among the tribals. The other dance is "Dhol" dance. Holi, Dashehara and Deewali are the main festivals of tribals. The tribal community families reside in the dense forest of District.
So how is Gadchiroli marathi? Who cared about them!!!!

Going By u r logic then, Warlis who u will find in Thane district will also not be marathi as they are having their own culture. Gadchiroli is a part of Maharashtra for last 50 yrs and hence we conside those gond,madia as marathi. And agreed that it is not developed. But same is applicable to Konkan. It is also facing the same issues as rest of Maharashtra.
Whatever we are fighting for is for the development of wholesome maharashtra and nation also and not for western maharashtra or konkan or vidarbha or marathwada. Aren't MPs from vidarbha are representing in delhi? Go and ask them u r questions about backwardness of Vidarbha, Go and ask those people who comes to Nagpur for winter state assembly session as Nagpur is sub-capital of this state. and not us who are dicussing how to take maharashtra to new path.
We are proud of three generations of Amte family who are serving mankind and Maharashtra have honoured them and will always be grateful them for that. And while doing so we are least bother that in which part of Maharashtra they are doing it.

Gadchiroli , might be part of Maharashtra for 50 years, but Demand for separate Vidharba have been there since 1918. Check history if you like.

ppradnya, I know very well of Sanyukta Maharahstra andolan. But before Sanyukta maharashtra, there was a long battle fought for Sanyukta bharat where thousands of Indians laid their lives. The independence from British.
So if by raising marathi, tamil cards all the times, are we not doing injustice to freedom fighters of India!!! If you think that this is right , then you have no rights to say that separate Vidarbha state is againsst spirit of Sanyukta Maharashtra.

dinkar, i feel both of you guys (chanakya & yourself) have few valid points but instead of discussing points you start fight with each other.
Chanakya .. seperate vidarbha could be extreme step, i believe maharashtra govt. should be given chance to improve the situation there. And if you don't believe in govt. improving the situation then why one should believe that new state govt. for vidarbha will help.
Going by seperation logic, we should loose kashmir to pakistan and arunachal pradesh to china because our govt. is failing there too.
dinkar, i too feel marathi is important and i love everything about it. But today mumbai has all problems which a exploding city would have .. and we need good leader to address them. Lets hope our leader progress in this direction too.
