Condemning provocative statements by Raj and Uddhav Thackeray against north Indians, former attorney general Soli J Sorabjee has warned that perpetuation of this atmosphere could degrade the "glorious" city of Mumbai into a provincial town.
Sorabjee, born in the city in 1930, minced no words in expressing his anguish at the blatant muscle flexing through a war of words against north Indians and said: "It is high time that action is taken against blatant justification of violence and rule of law is restored in the glorious city of Mumbai."

Soli Sorabjee is a well-meaning, nice man.
Restoring rule of law means breaking rule of law first? :D
I believe this is an issue which people should have discussed and debated instead of jumping into the street and beating up some poor bhaiyya.
Anyone who lives in Mumbai knows the problems of Mumbai. The language used by Azmi and Raj made it a goonda vs goonda issue instead :(

Beating up poor people resolves nothing.. just affords politicians some cheap publicity and tonnes of curses ('badua'). What have any of these people done for the city anyway?

Mumbai hates them, but Ludhiana loves its migrants
Local industrialists say Punjab needs the migrants as much as the migrants need Punjab. They say, without them, the much-envied prosperity of Punjab would not have been a reality
