To ensure compliance with the guidelines laid down by it in 2006, the Bombay High Court on Thursday ruled that all those who wish to organise Chhat Puja will have to compulsorily deposit Rs 1 lakh with the suburban collector.
On October 19, 2006, the HC had ruled that there should be no involvement of political parties in the Chhat Puja and no parties should erect a platform on beachfronts.
The court had also restrained the organisations performing puja from putting up publicity material like banners or posters.
In addition, the HC had imposed restrictions on the use of mikes, loudspeakers and amplifiers during the puja.

I only wish that the courts had given similar order for Ganpati as well. This year i am seeing too many posters of politicians of all parties everywhere on the streets. It remains to be seen whether the parties will do visarjan of the posters as well..
BTW i hope the BMC has taken the chance to collect ad money from the parties putting up the posters. They can use the funds to repair the roads. Or they can use the posters itself to fill the potholes...

Its good move,i dont think there is anything wrong in it,because these north Indians are behaving as if Mumbai is place where anything can be done.On day when Chaat puja is performed all people from Bihar n UP act as if they rule Mumbai. They mess up Juhu beach, all Bhojpuri songs are sung at beach at high volume, does songs have any connection with puja???? After Anant Chaturtdasi, many people come and help BMC to clean the Beach, there are very less people, but atleast some people some out. But after Chaat puja all Biharis are sleeping nxt day,n those who are not sleeping come out n do more mess by spitting n doing many things!!! So its very correct move by HC,as first of all this festival is not among Maharashtra's tradition, and none of true Mumbaikars are benefited from this puja,as only biharis are seen roaming doing Hungama at beach!!!
