Highlights of MNS manifesto for Vidhansabha 2009

1. Every single employment opportunity available in the public, private, organised as well as unorganised sector will go to the local Maharashtrian. Law and regulations already exist for this purpose; we will keep a careful eye
on their enforcement.

2. a. Unauthorised and illegal construction will not be tolerated in any case. Illegal migrants will be send back to their respective States.
b. We will lobby with the government to initiate low cost housing schemes for those Marathi people who have come to Mumbai in search of employment.

3. Maharashtra NavNirman Sena would fight to its last breath to ensure that education institutes would give first preference to Marathi students.

4. Maharashtra NavNirman Sena will challenge the Interstate River Water Dispute Tribunal all over again so that the State receives its rightful share of water.

5. a. Maharashtra NavNirman Sena will insist on increasing the efficiency of existing uneconomical power generation plants.
b. We will work towards implementing strict policies to prevent thefts and distribution losses.
c. We will prepare a time‐bound plan to start new power generation projects to increase the State’s power generation capacity and monitor the same.

6.Maharashtra NavNirman Sena is committed to develop a system whereby seeds, fertilisers, pesticides and credit are available to the farmers at reasonable rates and their produce can be sold at justifiable market rates. We will try to establish farmer societies in each village and market rates will be communicated to farmers with the help of information technology.

7. Maharashtra NavNirman Sena will take up the issue of public health on a priority basis.

8. MNS would force the government to decentralise industrial development across Maharashtra rather than in Mumbai‐Pune‐Nashik and prepare and implement a time‐bound plan for
the same.

9. MNS would leave no stone unturned to ensure the enforcement of strict laws for the security of women.

10. However, on a priority basis, we will attempt to provide quality schooling up to Standard X to every student in the State by controlling the drop‐out rates in the coming five years.

11. For Marathi language
a. Hefty grants should be given to all Marathi medium schools.
b. Marathi should be made compulsory in every school up to Standard X.
c. Bus stop in every district and every important railway station should have shops selling Marathi literature, cassettes, films and songs. Government should provide financial support to these
shops.
d. Unicode should be made compulsory on computers to spread use of Marathi.
e. It is very shameful that Marathi is not used in all the government offices in the State. This situation must be changed, and the use of Marathi should be promoted in general and especially
in court proceedings.
f. We will lobby with the Centre to include Marathi in the list of classical languages.
g. We will encourage graduate level studies of Marathi language and its use in the commercial
sector by introducing a course for the same.
h. We will lobby for giving autonomy, grants and facilities to these five institutions, Bhasha Sanchalanalay (Directorate of Language), Rajya Marathi Vikas Sanstha, Sahitya Sanskruti Mandal, Vidyapeeth Granth Nirmitee Mandal and Vishwakosh Nirmitee Mandal so that these institutions can function with full steam.
i. We will pursue the creation of a post for an independent cabinet level Minister for the spread
and growth of Marathi language.
