HC reverses sessions court’s order, sentences Pereira to three years’ imprisonment; bail plea hearing today.

Reversing the order of the sessions court, a division bench of the Bombay High Court on Thursday sentenced Alistair Pereira to three years rigorous imprisonment under section 304 II for culpable homicide not amounting to murder with knowledge that his act would cause death. The sessions court had sentenced Pereira to six months’ simple imprisonment.

The court ordered Pereira was to surrender on Thursday and spend the night in prison. His bail application will be heard on Friday.
