The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided repair potholes in city roads before monsoon. The civic body will spend Rs 407 crore for the project in the coming year.

BMC had drawn plans to repair internal roads with asphalt. Internal roads are those roads that connect to the arterial roads.

The BMC’s standing committee passed the road repair proposal on Wednesday. The civic body’s road department is expected to awards contracts for the project within a month.

Mumbai has a total of 1,940 km of roads, including all the interior roads. The BMC would repair 124 interior roads. The length of these roads is about 54,057 metres.
