Following the formation of a separate department for minorities, the government of Maharashtra has decided to constitute a commission to take stock of the local socio-economic and educational condition of minorities in every district of the State. The commission will submit its report to the government, and on the basis of this report the requirements of minorities will be fulfilled through Maulana Azad Minorities Financial Development Corporation (MAMFDC). An announcement to this effect was made by Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh during the Minorities Self-Employment Conference organised by MAMFDC here Monday.
The chief minister said Maharashtra is the first State to give approval to the implementation of Justice Rajinder Sachar Committee Report, and for this it has established a separate department for minorities.
