I don't think these citizens have heard of the 'Mumbai Unplug' program.. I don't think they have even heard about Global Warming but they sure do take top honors in my book for actually "doing" something about local problems faced by their fellow citizens.
30 families in a building in Parel switched off all lights and other electric appliances between 7 pm and 10 pm for four days during Diwali, so that the power saved could be used by those who faced load-shedding.
The children also refrained from bursting crackers to make it a noiseless Diwali.
So while the Elders saved electricity the youngsters avoided noise and smoke pollution !
Talk about "Model Citizenship" from middle-class citizens residing in the heart of Mumbai !!!

Iam sure even mid-day's Mumbai Unplug program wouldn't have got this much participation (not that they care). This is truely admirable and rare picture in mumbai today.

A very wonderful gesture indeed by these familes.What is admirable is the way all these people voluntarily supported a noble thought put forward by a single person.theyd did no showbaazi ..and it all came from their own conscience.This is an excellent example of acting first and preaching later.
