Now days everywhere you turn there is a mind-boggling parade of clothes, gadgets, financial plans, holiday plans, super markets providing us with thousands and thousands of products,Television Channels, career plans and even when you are planning to get married.Shouldn't we be delighted? But why people are feeling so Oppressed in midst of freedom and so unhappy in midst of "Plenty"? Are huge number of choices that assault us every day makes many of us feel inadequate ?
Too much choice, too little time to do it all, less satisfaction with decisions as people have greater reason to regret the decisions they have made. We normally think the availability of multiple choices and being able to choose is Liberation
or Freedom. But is it really so? Or is this making our lives miserable day by day?
Does too many choices are making decision-making complex? We feel bad that every time we do make a choice, it seems we are missing out on other opportunities. This makes us feel inadequate and dissatisfied with what we have chosen.Experts also believes that we actually thrive when we have less choice and excess choice is paralysis rather than liberation. In spite of this fact the number of choices available are multiplying everyday.
So if all this choice is actually harming us what can be done. This is what Professor Barry Schwartz,a psychologist has to say in his book The Paradox of choice-Why More is Less :-
To achieve happiness it is better to be a "satisfiers" who accepts a good enough choice than a "Maximizer" who always wants to make the best possible decision. For this know your priorities well.Satisfiers may be fussy but once they make a choice they are done. They move on. But Maximizer are never done.As they never say they are done instead put off their decision longer and longer, constantly looking for even better possibilities.
We all have to learn to love the constraints on our lives. We have to learn to live in the moment, appreciate what we have and not think about all other things that we could choose instead.

Agree, life is moving too fast. The fastest speed is the speed of thought. So we always feel lack of time. Too many things to do in too little time.
May be the supply is more than the requirement, not more than demand though.
We have requirement of entertainment, we had DD and enjoyed it. Now we have channels (cable/national/international/webTV/iptv...) more than what remote can support and more than our requirement. However our demands for best content makes us scrolling thru most and enjoy less.
Somewhere I think we need balance. Fight for what is required, not for what more is available than requirement.
Sorry not a novel reader, so I have put the thought in own words, hope not much confusing.
