COME December, cigarette packs will be required to carry pictorial warnings covering up to 50 per cent of the display area on the box as per the Indian Tobacco Control Act 2003.
Lobbies in favour of pictorial warnings are hopeful that this will have the same impact here as it did in Canada, where this move reduced the number of tobacco users by 1 % or 2 %

sounds well.visual presentations or Pictorial warnings always have a greater impact than text.I don't thnk that will have any impact on regular smokers though.But I guess it will make a beginner a little cautious.

True, if government thinks that cigarette smoking is bad for health, why not ban it like gutkha. No cigarette production, no cigarette sale, no smoke.
They want tax from Tobacco sales as well as discourage smokers, what a "dharma sankat".
