In todays world brahmins have become a beating boy for everybody. Right from the other castes who are enjoying taking out their grudge, to politicians who dont think them to be a votebank like others. And if you are not a votebank no politician is gonna care about you. In todays so called democracy, no one can speak against any other caste , its a crime. But when it comes to brahmins, anyone and everyone can speak what they want against them. No one is afraid, no punishment. Today even awards in the name of great brahmins are stopped just because they were brahmins. Here I would not like to criticise any other community, because brahmins dont believe in negativity. I will just illustrate the good things the brahmins have given to society.
Take any tall leaders of yesterday who were involved in freedom struggle. Most were educated and setled with good jobs. But they gave it up for freedom struggle. I dont have to mention names because if I start it will take ages to list countless names, but still Ill mention just a few - Tilak, Agarkar, Chaphekar, Savarkar, Gokhale (Gandhiji's guru). I hope people remember this. All these people, were they fighting only for brahmins? It was for the whole country. Dadoji Konddeo, Baji Prabhu, Peshwas, Sant Ramdas, the list goes endless.
I agree that there was a time when society was divided as per the castes and since Brahmins were considered at the top, arrogance crept in and few did not behave as desired.
In todays world who are the new brahmins? The industrialists, leaders, sports people, actors, have they not become the top most class of society? Just imagine a poor man visiting the house of a rich Dalit leader? Will he even be allowed to enter the house? Will he be treated with respect and humbleness? Most probably the answer is no. So does that leader reallly have a right to say against the whole brahmin community and bash the current generation just because some brahmins did not behave ideally some centuries back?
Every community has its own good people and bad people. Even in the era when brahmins did take advantage of their status , the brahmin guy was the oppressor and the other guy the opppressed. But when the other guy entered his own house, the scene was reversed. Here he was the oppressor and his wife was the oppressed.Did he then really have the right to cry foul? If there were n bad brahmins, there were countless brahmins who also worked for the upliftment of the poor and oppressed. There have been so many brahmin saints who taught against untouchability and who fought for the oppressed. Even Ambedkars guru was a brahmin who allowed hin to use his name so that he could study further.
This is just a thought so that people can remove hate and love each other. There may have been things happened in the past, we should learn from them, not spoil futures.
