After a legal tangle with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and opposition from the Mumbai police,the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) has finally cleared the decks to hand over 4,500 flats situated opposite BPCLs Mahul refinery in Chembur to the BMC.

The flats will be given to those displaced by the Brimstowad project in the city.CM Ashok Chavan was to give the keys to slumdwellers at a function in Mahul on Monday,but he cancelled his visit due to death of Rajasthan governor Prabha Rau.The function has now been been postponed.
