Chief Hockey Coach Joaquim Carvalho has blamed India's below-par performance and some serious blunders for their 0-2 defeat in the World Hockey Olympic qualifying final at the hands of Great Britain, who also did not put up an extra ordinary performance.
Following the defeat, India failed to qualify for the Olympic Games for the first time in 80 years since their debut in 1928. "We played to just 50 per cent of potential today. Our defence made a silly mistake in the very first minute that led to a goal and another error on the flanks resulted in a second goal against us. We could not recover from these setbacks," Carvalho said after the match.

Former Indian goalkeeper Mir Ranjan Negi, who shot to fame after the release of 'Chak De! India', today said that it was time IHF President KPS Gill stepped down and BCCI president Sharad Pawar take on the job of resurrecting Indian hockey."I think what the cricket board president Sharad Pawar did to cricket; he can do the same thing to hockey and restore its past glory. He should be made the president of the Indian Hockey Federation if the game has to survive in the country," Negi said.
It is Ironic that Sharad Pawar who is the Union Minister of Agriculture is looked upon as promoter of sports when the farmers are committing suicides.
The biggest hippocrate is Shahrukh Khan. He told the media that hockey is a national sport and people should support it.If Shahrukh Khan is so concerned about hockey then why dint he put money in hockey rather than IPL.he is such a chut in life.

Dhanraj Pillay is as charismatic as Sachin Tendulkar, but the way the IHF and its dictator KPS Gill have been treating them its totally absurd. If there are no stars in the Indian Hockey team, it is because the IHF treats the players like dirt.
Can the Indian government intervene and remove him from his position as IHF Chief? Is this possible legally?

Nope, govt cant remove IHF chief. The Olympic rules dont allow it.
I dont understand how a stupid policeman became IHF chief though to begin with.
PVM, SRK is just being a normal human being. If someone is offered the job of PRO of the hockey or cricket team which will you take?
What he is doing is normal.
And unlike any of us (who also do the same thing, comment more on cricket stories than on hockey stories) SRK CAN do something for hockey. I think its a matter of time.
But this idiot cop has to go first. I wish some hockey player beat him on his ass with a hickey stick in public.

Aslam Sher Khan, the dashing former full-back who scored a goal in the dying minutes of India’s semi-final match against Malaysia in the 1975 World Cup to keep the team’s title hopes alive, has decided to take the lead in trying to oust IHF president K P S Gill and "save Indian hockey".
"If Gill is letting hockey die a slow, painful death, then he has to go. The anarchy must end," said the former BJP MP who is expected to meet the PM with the resolution soon
