According to sources, the selection committee has already spoken to Tendulkar and the Little Master has agreed to lead the Indian team although he will take another two days to give his final word.

I dont understand much abt cricket as u guys do :).Ofcourse I am a gr8888 fan of Sachin and it feels really good to see him in a good form again.Kyu captainship offer kar ke NAZAR Lagarahe hai :)I never liked him as a captain though.
As far as Captainship goes Dada would be my first choice anytime.He is Undoubtedly one of the best and succesful captain India had. He has gone through a bad patch in past.But to go through a bad patch is nothing new in sports. It has happened to all great players.

Sachin won't take up the captaincy. And its correct, he is in a good form now.
Besides that he will retire soon .. any maharashtrian wouldn't like to take additional resposibilities when he is serving the notice period you know :)
i think he should take up the captaincy.Thats a blot sachin will have on his career if he decides to retire,Not being a good captain..and i am sure he wants to change that. We have 2 important series coming up. A home series against pakistan and an away series against Australia. What better place can he get to settle the record
Anyway now the news is that it will be Dhoni, not Sachin.
Not a good idea for Sachin to become captain, I feel. He has barely recovered his form, if he takes the responsibility and tension of being the captain, he will lose the form again.
Also, Sachin will anyway have to retire sooner or later. Why take up Indian captaincy, better retire when everyone thinks he is playing well. If he becomes captain, the Indian team will be the same, and still we will lose most matches.
Retire when you are doing well, like Schumacher did - everyone thought he has a few more years to race, and he still retired. that way people will remember your victories, not your failures.

I really wish with my heart and soul captainship goes back to Saurav But the question is whether he will take it again?.
Sometimes I wonder is it lack of mental or emotional calibure,whatever u call it,due to which Indian players have so much prob handling with pressure when it comes to captainship that they eventually lose their forms or really the pressure on Indian captain is more as compared to any other team?
Make the most irresponsible player in the team as captain. (Yuvraj).

So he will tell 3 former captians ie. Ganguly, Tendulkar and Dravid where to stand. I think they all 3 should quit insstead of taking orders from Dhoni.

He is captain because there is no other option .. as simple as that.

He performed well enough when he came into the side. After that the media blew him up as the saviour of Indian cricket.
Have you forgotten his performance against Sri Lanka (in India) and Pakistan (in Pakistan).
Also have you forgotten the performance (non-performance) of the keeper before him.... do you even remember who it was ;-)
Please remember Dhoni has been appointed ODI captain and that next ODI world cup is going to be played in India, Pakistan, Sri lanka and Bangladesh.
Also by the time of next world cup i think our 'trimurti' would have allready been retired or dumped or useless.
I am not a Dhoni fan as much i am fan of the trio..... but we have to look into the future sometime.... BCCI as usual is too occupied with making mess of the present.
Tendular and Saurav are near to their retirement, may be dravid also after some time.
Winning against Australia and Pakistan is anyway difficult, so they wont like to have bad record as captain at this stage in their career.
Saurav might be near to retirement but not Sachin cause according to the people he plays only for records so he is going to break 1 more record. The oldest player to score a 100 :) .

I don't know the oldest, but sunil gavaskar played till the age of 37.
Poor Dhoni. The tension of running the Indian team will be too much. this may end his batting career :(
But seniors have no reason to complain. They have been batting for a very long time now, and are all getting close to retirement. We are going to have a long period while these new chaps learn how to be seniors.
