NMMC started this Rs. 111 crore project in 2006, due to increasing number of accidents on the road from airoli to turbhe. But then road already started showing up the cracks and NMMC officers are on the defensive mode. This sounds like regular BMC story.

Heavy rains continued to lash the city and the suburbs on Monday, affecting road, rail and air traffic. The weather bureau, meanwhile, has predicted intermittent rainfall with possibility of few heavy showers during the day.

In a move to discourage people from bringing private vehicles to the business district, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is all set to increase parking charges after 16 years by four times. Next on the agenda: parking on streets will be banned and off-street parking will soon be introduced.
