Aamir Khan had to field the question when a journalist asked him at a press conference in Mumbai, referring to the selection of Taare Zameen Par as India's entry to the Oscars. The journalist pointed out that the creative director for TZP was Amole Gupte while Ashutosh Gowariker had directed Lagaan, Aamir's earlier film that bagged an Oscar nom. This applications are for clearance of BMC for the madap setup as per the BMC guidelines. We cannot expect the BMC to handle a population of 18 million. With a density of 23 people per sq ft there are bound to be hygiene and cleanliness issues. However, it is a pleasant surprise to see that the citizens of Mumbai are making an effort to keep the city clean. This can be seen on the city roads where people abstain from throwing things outside their car windows.
