The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has said that nearly one-fourth of the milk produced in Maharashtra is adulterated. FDA officials collected samples from 866 dairies across the state between April 1, 2006 and May 31, 2007 of which 151 samples were found to be adulterated. Maharashtra produces 60 lakh litres of milk daily.
