There will soon be more Santro and Indica taxis on Mumbai roads. Taxi drivers are being told by their unions to slowly phase out the current Premier Padmini cabs.

The state government is set to make the installation of electronic meters mandatory in all autorickshaws and taxis that were registered after March 1 this year.

Confirming that the proposal has been cleared, Minister of State for Transport Dharmarao Atram said: “This was discussed and cleared on Tuesday.”

Proud Owners of Tata Indigo might not like this news but Yes from November 5th we will see Tata Indigo running on the streets of mumbai as cool cabs. . The union also plans to introduce Maruti WagonR as black-and-yellow taxis or cool cabs by January 2008. read more »
