As per Bombay Cinema regulation act and revived policy in 2001, a SINGLE SCREEN in mumbai should show a marathi film at least for four weeks in a year. But none of that is working until govt. issued orders against 79 multiplexes last year. And all of all us could see theaters with hoarding of marathi movies once in a while.
Mumbai Police on Monday suspended the licenses of 35 cinema halls of the city for not adhering to the Maharashtra government's order for mandatory screening of Marathi movies for minimum of four weeks a year.

After having exempted Bhojpuri movies from Theatre tax, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has now proposed to exempt all regional language movies and dramas from tax from the year 2008-09.
Till now, only Marathi and Gujarati films and drama shows along with tamasha shows were exempted from Theatre tax in Mumbai.

I have read stories about small kids coming to Mumbai working in the canteens and starting their own restaurants by the time they are 20 and also seen hindi movies showing the kids going through hard labor to become heroes; remember "Saab .. mai aaj bhi feke hue paise nahi uthata". What has changed drastically since then is the number of such kids flowing in mumbai and the bollywood scripts.
