Twenty-five days into J&K posting, Gaonkar dies in action in Rajouri

A commuter who was fined by a ticket-checker of the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking in March 2007, fought against the administration when he found out that he had been wrongly charged. On Wednesday, he was awarded a cheque of Rs 50 after he made BEST realise its mistake. Interestingly, the commuter has spent more than Rs 500 till date.

We cannot expect the BMC to handle a population of 18 million. With a density of 23 people per sq ft there are bound to be hygiene and cleanliness issues. However, it is a pleasant surprise to see that the citizens of Mumbai are making an effort to keep the city clean.
