It began Saturday 11.28 pm VT. All the trek members were getting in to the train at various stations from VT to kalyan. By the time we reached karjat it was quite a mix of crowd from seasoned climbers to people with "iam_actually_a_newyorker" expression.

Mohammad Faiz (30), owner of, Badshah, the goat priced at an astronomical Rs 5,51,00,786 says it needs police protection. “Unidentified people have been calling and threatening to kidnap him,” said Faiz. The threats, he added, began two days ago, when Badshah’s price was announced at Deonar’s abattoir. “I had approached the police for protection, but they laughed it off,” he said.

The guilty verdict, and the sentence it might entail (40 years), was so stunning that the courtroom erupted. Defendant Varsha Sabhnani collapsed sobbing on to her husband Mahendar’s chest. One of their daughters, Dakshina, fainted and had to be rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. Two other daughters broke down, hysterically. After the movie "OM SHANTI OM" set cash registers ringing, Khan is said to have received extortion calls from gangster Bunty Pandey.

While every step is being taken to maintain law and order, it would be interesting to see how they are going to manage 6 to 7 lacs people with CCTV's. And on top of that BEST has pooled in 10 lacs for tea, coffee and snacks. Rest we all know.
