The contractor of the Bandra-Worli sea link project, which had committed to complete it by 2006, has stopped work to demand settlement of dues, which the government has dismissed as unrealistic.

The dispute set off by Hindustan Construction Company (HCC)’s claim may push the project completion date beyond 2009 and the cost to over Rs1,500 crore.
